Brian Clark and I were chatting on the phone yesterday about the end of the “Utopian” phase of blogging and social media.
Yes, all that talk about “Conversation”, “The Social Graph”, “End of Marketing”, “Advertising Is Dead”, “Authenticity”, “Transparency” and “Bypassing The Gatekeepers” had its place.
At the same time, I think we all collectively wasted a lot of time by endlessly yakking on about it. “Building Brand Advocates through Influencer Engagement” and similar corporate drivel.
I think 2010 will the year we all start actually being more TRANSPARENT about why we’re really here in the first place: To make money.

Making money is not enough Hugh. Would you really quit blogging if you had all the cash you would ever need?
I want to influence folks and get a helluva lot smarter from getting input from diverse perspectives. What the he’ll do I know about advertising, design, enthusiasm? The answer, not enough!
Maybe blogging isn’t the perfect channel for finding a bunch of far out folks that jive with my mojo, but it sure feels right.

Yeah, what Leah said. Texas can be cool. Go dig up some fossils on King Mountain or something. World class stuff there, if you can get permission to get on the land.
About that money making thing: I don’t pay much attention to people with issues about making money. Somebody else must be paying their rent.
i was previously familiar with social media. actually its still a powerful method and that is why facebook is at the top position on alexa rank. i have increase the limit of my knowledge from this post. carry on.

Hey I feel the same way I cant find a damn website that give up money. well now I found a website that give out more that .001 cents per email or ad clicked. this one pays 25$ per email. and 25 dollars for add clicks. Paypal is also included in this money they can get you your money via paypal. I had 700$ in two days and they give you 300$ for just signing up.
