To paraphrase David Ogilvy: “Most people hate to think, and will go to great lengths to avoid it”.
I hear what he’s saying; it certainly seems that way on busy, stressful days. Being an advertising man, David would’ve had a lot of days like this.
But the way I see it, thinking (and by that I mean proper thinking) isn’t a luxury it once was during the “fact’ry years”, it’s now essential.
Why? Because we now live in a “talent economy”, one that rewards innovation, and devalues pretty much everything else.
And talent and innovation requires creativity. And creativity needs time and space.
Time and space to think properly…
