The Chinese have a lovely word, “Te”, which roughly means virtue, integrity, character, moral strength, etc.
Ideally, *Te* manifests itself when one’s thoughts, words, and actions are in harmony i.e. when you think, say or do something, there’s no disconnect.
The fitness company, SoulCycle found itself in a spot of bother recently when it turned out one of their biggest investors was also a major Republican donor.
A lot of SoulCycle branches are in big, Democrat-majority cities, so this caused a lot of uproar with its Democrat customers, of which there are a lot.
How you see this playing out depends a lot on which side of the political divide you’re on, of course, and how personally you wear your politics on your sleeve.
But in an age where everyone is just one click away from forming a Twitter mob, these kind of potential “narrative breaches”, or “gaps in the Te” are going to get more expensive and damaging if they happen to you.
Get your “Te” sorted out in advance, is our advice.
