Stormhoek finally got a distribution deal here in Texas, and so now I’m back on the case.
Two problems: 1. No marketing budget to speak of, and 2. I live in Alpine, Texas, 400 miles west of Austin in the high desert mountains.
Looks like I’m going to have to improvise…
No matter. Like I told the folks at Stormhoek, if I can sell South African wine to West Texas cowboys, I can sell it to anybody.
So last week I got me a 4-by-8-foot piece of masonite, and painted a billboard, which I’ll soon be putting up by the roadside.
“Stormhoek. Made In South Africa. Drunk in West Texas.”
Expect photos and videos to follow… Rock on.

Sounds like a worthy undertaking. Where will said billboard be located? I’ll be in Alpine, Marathon and Big Bend next weekend – let me know where to pickup a bottle!

Back in the 70’s, Coors Beers was distributed only west of the Mississippi. The fact that it was scarce made it the most sought-after beer east of the Mississippi. Folks would drive cross-country, fill their vans with the stuff and sell it at a premium upon return. Strange how things work like that.
If you want to gather up triiibe of Stormhoekers,
the scarcity of it works in your favor.
