To paraphrase Hagakure, any properly trained Samurai should be able to handle anything the world throws at him within a twenty-four hour period, however unpleasant.
Therefore, a Samurai should only live one day at a time, in the here and now.
That way, if no one single day can defeat him, then ipso facto, life won’t be able defeat him either.
Long days may be the most tiring, may be the most perilous, but they’re also the ones that get remembered over time. Embrace them when they arrive.
