Managing a city is hard work. You have many masters to serve, and innovation is super challenging. We are lucky to live in a city where both Mayor Phillip Levine and City Manager Jimmy Morales are always pushing the envelope on what city government can do. So when the city leadership approached us to run their annual ” Innovative Thinking For The Future ” leadership conference, we were super excited about the challenge.
The leaders of every city function assembled, our goal was to deliver a day that pushed people to consider their challenges differently and think about solutions for both internal culture and community engagement that is based more on behavioral science and less on rules and regulations.
We curated a day with amazing speakers who visited virtually. Our buddy Hermeister, Mark Earls talked about the reality of how decisions are made, the amazing Margaret Heffernan talked about building social capital, the awesome Mark Rowland gave a great primer on self management and our old friend Seth Godin finished up the day with a talk about Tribes and what it takes to lead.
It was a thought provoking day and one that left everyone thinking and feeling differently about what is possible. Thanks to Kate Gonzales, Senior Management Consultant and Jimmy Morales, City Manager, for the opportunity to be of service to our awesome community.
