Amazon is a good example of this. There, you’re only as good as the team they let you be part of. So if you don’t get on with your team, no amount of pure talent is going to save you.
It’s not a bad way to exist, really. It trains you to think beyond yourself, beyond your petty little day-to-days, and think more about the big picture.
Which adds up to a more emotionally satisfying and rewarding career over time. Win-win.
