Prince said it best: Too much freedom can lead to the soul’s decay.
We all are, technically, free people. Right?
But not really. We have obligations that keep us from absolute freedom: we have to care for ourselves and our families, we have to make money, we have to be good citizens and good friends and good people.
So, within these constraints, we have to identify where we do have freedom to act.
We need to make money, sure — but we can choose how. We can identify what we love to do, like to do, and are willing to do; we can set our own boundaries; we can determine how we want to be known and how we want to spend our time.
Until we set limits on our freedom, we won’t live as free people at all.
