[Me signing copies of “Ignore Everybody” earlier this week. 25 boxes, 40 books in each…]
With my upcoming book launch less than three weeks away, we decided to published prints from some of the cartoons found in the book.
The book has eighty-odd cartoons in it, I’ve made a shortlist of fourteen [See Below], from which I’ll actually print up three in the next couple of weeks, to coincide with the books hitting the shops [UPDATE: I’ve also included two or three cartoons that aren’t in the book, but maybe should have been etc.].
These prints will be smaller than the last ones [approx 9″x14″ i.e. roughly the same dimensions as my MacBook] and cheaper [around $100-$125 for one, around $300 for the set]. They may be black and white only, or we may use maybe one color, we’re not sure yet.
In spite of their small size, like last time, they will be signed, and will be printed as high-quality silkscreens.
Upmarket Cube Grenades. Exactly.
Here is the shortlist. Feel free to leave your feedback in the comments, Thanks!
MISTAKENLY
WOLF VS. SHEEP
WE NEED TO TALK
I DON’T HAVE FRIENDS
WELCOME TO…
IT’S NOT WHAT THE SOFTWARE DOES
ANGELS
COMPANY HIERARCHY
DINOSAUR
IF YOU TALKED TO PEOPLE
QUALITY
GOOD FOR YOU
THE HUGHTRAIN
THRIVING IN MARKETS
‘Wolf v Sheep’ is continually thought provoking – implied costs of aspiration, etc
‘Market for something to believe in’ has a fine balance of drawing combined with fact or metaphysics, with a choice of interpretation .. those are the two I’d want for provoking discussion
Anne
1 vote for “Quality”. Already on my wall – be nice to have a decent print of it.
The problem is: I love them all. *sob*
I vote for Wolf vs. Sheep – wonderfully thought provoking; horribly true. Also, to have it in colour would be great rather than plain b/w.
I’d go for Quality or Welcome to..
If I could only pick one, it would be quality. If I could pick 3 it would be quality, its not what the software does, and the dinosaur one because the expression on his face is freakin’ evil. 🙂
Thanks!
The market for something to believe in, please.
Please.
Wolf vs Sheep, Quality, The Hughtrain
QUALITY and HUGHTRAIN are musts!
Dinosaur makes me laugh…maybe because I’ve known too many folks who don’t have a clue they’re wasting time! But hard to pick as they’re all good.
I agree all of the ones featured on this list are fantastic, and would look great on my wall.
Top Three:
– Quality
– Mistakenly
– Wolf V. Sheep
Ok, Four:
– Thriving in Markets
I’m really looking forward to reading the book.
i like the welcome to “nobody cares”
I vote for Dinosaur, Wolf Vs Sheep, and The Hughtrain. Although all of them are awesome.
We need to talk. Seriously. 😉
I vote the Dinosaur!
They are all really good, which does not make the choice easy.
I can see the faces of people I have worked with over the years who would benefit from reading all or any of these.
These are my favourites, in order of preference:
QUALITY
THE HUGHTRAIN
THRIVING IN MARKETS
But, as I said, ALL really good. Good luck having to choose only one.
My votes: Mistakenly, Wolf vs Sheep, The Hughtrain.
At risk of being repetitive:
Hughtrain, Sheep, Quality, with Dinosaur a close 4th.
Hughtrain, Dinosaur, and Mistakenly. Hughtrain is brilliant, Dinosaur is both funny and insightful, and Mistakenly is just way too true.
I have to vote for Quality, The Hughtrain, Thriving Markets and I Don’t Have Friends.
Ideally i envision all 4 (9×14 or 10×12) in black and white, in one frame with some thick matting. It would completely encapsulate my life at this moment in time.
Mistakenly or If You Talked To People. I also like I Don’t Have Friends.
Not Wolf vs Sheep; you just did that. Limited editions benefit from being, well, limited. 😉
“Mistakenly” would be my favorite, “We need to talk” next.
I vote for Quality, Mistakenly, and Wolf vs. Sheep. Would be honored to have these on my wall.
“Software” would be my top vote, but I’m biased (It’s on the back of my business card). “Job One” and “Dinosaur” would be my next picks.
Question on the book – honest answer needed – how well will the Kindle version be? Given the cartoons, I’m wondering if this is one of those titles that work better in print.
Brilliant all. I love where you’re going with this, Hugh. Rock on.
1. If you talk to people
2. Quality
3. It is not what the software does
Quality and The Hughtrain get my vote.
Love ’em all. In no particular order, I vote:
1. software/user
2. quality
3. advertising
I’m voting for
1) WELCOME TO…
2) It’s not what the software does
3) Quality
talk to people the way advertising… punch you in the face.
Here’s the list of all the one’s I would order:
1. Hughtrain (a must)
2. Quality
3. Wolf/sheep
4. Welcome to…
5. Mistakenly
6. Dinosaur
Love it. And thanks for hearing us.
I have hughtrain and mistakenly on t-shirts, and they get my vote for top 2; and I have software, thriving in markets on business cards …
(the other two I have on cards are network is more powerful than node and not a science project).
Wolf vs Sheep and quality are probably next for cards …
Nobody’s voting for “When I think of you I see angels” ?
I guess I’m thus far the lone wolf out on this, but of the cartoons here it is the one that made me stop & think – which I do so appreciate. At first I didn’t get it. It sounded like a sweet sentiment – which seemed oddly suspicious. Then I thought about it & realized what a Devilishly biting quip it truly is.
Very clever! Thanks.
I vote for Wolf vs. Sheep. It’s been my favorite Hugh cartoon ever since I first found the blog.
Vote to “nobody cares”…
Quality
Nobody Cares
These are awesome. Keep them coming.
One Quality please 🙂 Love the dino too.
oh and still waiting on when you’re going to add the ‘only the talented fret about mediocrity’ one
Cheers!
Miriam
‘Mistakenly’ is my all-time favourite. ‘Sheep/Wolf’ and ‘The market for something to believe in’ are also right up there. But they are all awesome!
Talked to People
Quality
and
Thriving In Markets.
Please oh please oh please. Talked To People will be the ultimate cube grenade for an ad agency.
My votes for “Professional/Work” Cube Grenades
1) Hughtrain
2) Quality
3) Wolf v Sheep
My votes for “Personal” Living room Grenades – because I’d like to spark these conversations at home, too.
1) Angels
2) Welcome to
3) We need to talk.
Thanks! mjl
Love ’em all but my money’s always going to be on Hughtrain. Genius
I’d love to have any of my top four hanging in my office:
QUALITY
THRIVING IN MARKETS
WOLF VS. SHEEP
COMPANY HIERARCHY
Votes as follows:
1) Quality (with some strategically placed asterisks please…)
2) The Hughtrain
Hugh,
My votes are for:
We Need To Talk
Quality
Thriving in Markets
I’ve used Quality twice in the past couple of weeks, including in a blog post.
So
1. Quality
2. Nobody cares
3. I don’t have friends…
Hello,
I vote for :
1. GOOD FOR YOU
2. COMPANY HIERARCHY
and 3. IT’S NOT WHAT THE SOFTWARE DOES
;o)
So, would selling a meteor to a dinosaur be like selling an online news site to a newspaper editor?
My votes are for:
1) Quality
2) It’s Not What The Software Does
3) Hughtrain
1) I love Quality and will buy it the second its offered.
One that isn’t on the list that has been taped over my bed for years is, “If the fucker doesn’t cost your your life it isn’t quest”. Right under a print of Picasso’s Don Quixote. Would love a real print of that one.
