We know we can’t predict the future, that doesn’t mean we don’t know it’s there.
A big part of business is managing that paradox. Acting WITHOUT perfect knowledge.
Which requires another paradox- managing what you can control while letting go of what you can’t, while doing what AA recommends i.e. trying to tell the difference between the two.
So it’s not about having all the answers, because you simply don’t have all them. As this article in HBR says, a lot of it is just having the ability to remain emotionally stable while (and please excuse the overused nautical metaphor) the storm runs its course.
In a world without certainty, emotional certainty is probably the best thing we’ve got.
