Last week the photographer, Debora Smail was in town, working on a travel assignment for a magazine. We hung out a bit; first we cracked open a few beers at Harry’s Tinaja, then I took her her over to my studio and showed her DesertManhattan. Besides it being a lovely afternoon, full of interesting conversation, she took a lot of pictures. Here are some of them. Hope you like etc. Thanks, Debora!

Having these professional shots of you working is such a genius idea to promote the new works that I wish either you thought of it upfront directly and intentionally as part of your evil plan, or that I did and suggested it to you.

i really enjoyed shooting you working! too bad i couldn’t capture the thought-smoke coming from your ears!
i can’t wait to see DesertManhattan completed – it was already beautiful in the beginning stages.

These are great shots. I especially like the one at the picnic table with your blackberry, smokes and lighter. Is that a book of business cards underneath? Portfolio maybe.

Jennifer- THAT ACTUALLY IS a a business card wallet filled with 70+ original drawings. Very cool that you spotted it 🙂

Candice, yeah, I would agree. It’s because I now actually have the time and space to think propely.
As a painter friend of mine said to me about West Texas, “There’s not much to do out here, except to make art and drink beer.”
