This is an idea I wrote while working on an e-book collaboration with my good friend, Brian Solis.
I have this idea that communities are built around people, with emotions being the web that connects them. Tribes form around emotions, more than they do around rational arguments.
And this web I speak of is remarkably symmetrical.
In other words, the best way to matter to people is to have them matter to you first. You give and take.
Your mother already taught you that, years ago.
