My “Blue Monster” business cards arrived in the mail today. Very cool. It’ll be interesting to see how people react to them.

Wow. I have seen a couple of the other TED presentations but that one was just mindblowing.

I think the Seadragon preview is good evidence that Mircosoft can be and will be at the forefront of new technology.
I am neither pro nore anti Microsoft personally but I love the way technology continues to surprise me.
Our use of open source software at Severn Delta has been well publicised (by Dennis Howletts amongst others) but this is because we look for low cost solutions not because we have an institutional bias against Microsoft.
I am unconvinced that Google really poses a “disruption” threat to Microsoft. Most users of Google products do via a Microsoft platform called Windows after all. Docs, spreadhseets, email… mature markets commodify and devalue. This applies to all markets. Its your cutting edge NPD that drives the next wave of revenue growth whether we are taling about Google:Microsoft or L’Oreal:P&G.

Microsoft, and plenty of other companies, have interesting doo-hickeys like this that never make it to market. Have you been to the ‘not so secret’ model house at the Redmond campus Hugh? Very cool and interesting but MSFT is very picky about what it attempts to bring to market.
Microsoft had a chance to bring a community together this fall, to give it some insight on what/where/how to change the world but they cancelled it. This meeting is called the Professional Developers Conference and nobody is buying the BS that MSFT is laying out as a reason for why this meeting is cancelled. This is extremely disrespectful to developers who build apps for Windows, vendors who have partnered with MSFT to support MSFT apps, as well as some of MSFT’s own media assets who were supposed to reap the benefits of several thousand developers and vendors converging at one place. It’s funny that most of the articles that appeared soon after the announcement were MSFT apologists saying that “it’s no big deal” but after a week or so, there are many more articles and blog posts calling MSFT out on their arrogance and smokescreen.

If they can do this with images, can a video application be far behind? And text? Imagine being able to collate all of the web posts about any given subject, creating a sort of “contextual summary”.
Or looking at all possible answers to a particular question that exist on the web…
