Fred Wilson, the famous New York venture capitalist (and friend of gapingvoid), once said that the best way to make money in tech is to solve problems.
The question then is, what’s a problem? Are we talking real problems, or are we just talking #firstworldproblems ?
Even though it’s very sexy to look at, the Apple Watch doesn’t solve real preexisting problems for many people, hence it’s a bit of a dud. Whereas some far less sexy Nineteenth Century tech like indoor plumbing solves really big problems, and therefore has become ubiquitous.
At the end of the day, all tech faces the same problem: that human beings exist in space and time.
So then what?
You tell me.
