As a young boy, I couldn’t help noticing that, when we went to church, a great deal of one’s time was spent thanking God for lots of things.
Back then, it seemed kind of silly to me. If God was indeed the Supreme Being, then he already knew our thoughts, thankful or otherwise, so why say anything?
And besides, why should someone as omnipotent as God care one way or another? Didn’t he have more important things to worry about?
When I grew up I realized that the more thankful you feel about life (whether you believe in a God or not), the more you actually appreciate it.
When our grandparents told us to count our blessings, they certainly knew what they were talking about.
