10.30 a.m. I’m sitting in a Starbuck’s at Lexington & 44th, New York City.
I’ve got a couple of hours to kill [I catch my cab to the airport at 3pm]. If anyone wants to meet up, my cell is (646) 704 4509. Just an idea.
UPDATE: Within five minutes of posting this, somebody rings me up and invites me out to lunch. Brilliant!
[Charles and Rachel]
UPDATE: So I ended up having lunch with both Charles Hope of Blip TV and my buddy Rachel Clarke, of JWT. I met Charles once before, at SXSW 2 months ago- a supremely interesting guy. And Rachel’s no dullard, either. Turns out Rachel and Charles already know each other from another NY social circle. Small world.
UPDATE: 6.20 Eastern Time. About to board flight to London. See you on the other side etc.
My suckilious Monday morning is now much sadder knowing I can’t make it to the city in time to meet the great “Hugh MacLeod”.
I have someone in my office right now, bitching up a storm about a mistake “they didn’t make”. Uh-huh, right! —Can’t they see I am busy ignoring them!
I have never seen the movie “Planes, Trains and Automobiles”, but I have a feeling that may be in my future to actually be able to listen to you at a Geek Dinner someday (in London?). I’ll write it off as a business expense. Besides I need a vacation!
Disappointedly, RKR
PS A daily calendar of your cartoons would be nice; a good cup of coffee and gapingvoid makes my day!
That’s a great response, lucky you, hope you had a great lunch.
Hey Hugh, safe trip back to good ol’ London!!
See ya tomorrow

That is great that you can make a connection by just popping up a post and wammo…you have a lunch. I hope you will post about the lunch and what made it interesing. I am a big believer in connecting with others whenever you can, as one never can predict when a new person will appear whom will have an amazing opporunity for you in the future.
It was great to catch up and I loved the serendipity of Charles and I both meeting up with you. ‘Til the next time
