[A 30th-floor condo view of downtown Miami, from South Beach.]
Had lunch in New York. Currently in Miami on business. Flying to Austin tomorrow morning. International man of mystery etc etc.
[Bonus Link:] It seems everyone at SXSW is going nuts over Twitter.
Fair enough. One thing you eventually learn about us Web 2.0 crowd, if you hang out with us for long enough: If we don’t have something to go nuts over every couple of weeks, we start getting antsy.
“The memory of a goldfish, with a bizmodel-on-steroids application” etc.
“All is vanity” etc.
“Plus ca change” etc.
“I have the need, the need to feed” etc.
You get the picture.
and on philosophical days, one takes the Laphroig with a wee bit of water and ice, sits back, lites a smoke and wonders,
“does it all really matter anyway if those fishies are going die?”
;p
For decades the endless list of Television, Print Media, Word Of Mouth and common sense have hammered at anyone who pays attention that any New York life experience is an overwritten and thread bare cliche. Read the New Yorker, watch Letterman and study American History. You can’t rot to death any faster than to embrace the New York experience. And you figured that out. So, enjoy Austin. Get to the entertainment district and listen to some really great Country Music, line dance once, eat some Bar B Que – they don’t have that in London – and realize that there are some great Ad Agencies there. Maybe just handling the print media purchases and living on a nice 6 acre spread will set you free. Or not.
Best Wishes,
Dave
Laphroig with ice? Blasphemy! Really Hugh, these comments are just getting out of hand…
Hugh… you crack me up
Hi Hugh,
I set up a Twitter account a while back and have only seriously started using of late. I’m not sure what to make of it – it’s a bit like blogging lite.
Also how do you decline the verb “to twit”, particularly in the past tense?!
