What is the single biggest issue with your organization’s culture?
They say that if you want your marriage with your beloved to last, you must “love them for what they are, not obsess over what they’re not”. I suppose that advice applies pretty well to most important relationships.
Of course, we all know all this to be true, but we ignore it anyway.
We even do it to our employees, when we start placing wildly unrealistic expectations on them. Ditto when we start worrying a lot more about what the team should be doing in an ideal world, rather than what the team can improve on in the here and now.
When this happens, you start getting a lot of what gapingvoid calls, “Cultural Denial”, i.e. a collective malaise that occurs when everybody suddenly decides en masse to part company with reality.
At least if you’re aware of it, you can do something about it…
