[Sent out earlier today in the newsletter etc.]
I’ve always had an obsessive quality, especially about my work.
I guess you need that, if you’re going to draw as many drawings as I have.
Or if you’re going to build a great business or long-term project or whatever.
I like the idea of this print, hanging up in someone’s office, reminding him or her about why they work differently than everybody else.
Why they get to see and do the stuff everybody else does not.
And why, deep down inside, it’ll pay off one day.
Hell, yeah…
Sometimes I worry that I obsess too much about a pixel being the wrong color, a line being the wrong thickness, all the little details that, to me, ought to be fixed. I think I’m going to make this drawing my “cube grenade.” Because the gradients have to match, darnit!
SO needed to hear this today. My obsession? Sharing with 90+ teenagers the RUSH I get from art-making in five days a week for eleven hours on concrete floors. Even though I have to put up with the pencil-pushing garbage from the i-need-to-make-myself-a-job-so-i’m-going-to-torture-teachers-idiots-in-suits to make it happen. The students STILL get the passion, and thank me for it by making beauty…for 27 years.
Heaven, Yeah!
