[“Pardon Me”, which I sent out on the newsletter last Spring. You can buy the print here etc.]
In case you don’t know this already, I’m not publishing new cartoons on the blog any more, except maybe occasionally. Yep, to see the new ones, you have to subscribe to the newsletter. That’s been true for a while now…
Looking forward to seeing you there. Thanks!
[NB- I’m leaving this post at the top of the homepage for a while, to give the news time to sink in. New content is below, Thanks Again!]
Hugh’s daily cartoon is a reliable bright spot in my day. Along with morning coffee, keeps me in the right frame of mind to conquer the world. Like Dilbert in some respects, only better đ
I did it. I want the inspiration you give.
Perhaps you can elaborate on why you made this decision?
While email is no-doubt “push,” it’s also passive. It comes in — and perhaps even gets opened — without necessarily engaging with it. Most of the recurring stuff I receive in email amounts to spam and so I tend to sift through it for the important personal messages and ignore the rest. Even the interesting stuff I intend to review later is quickly buried under the new stuff coming in. Contrast that with my RSS reader, which I pull up less often (though still almost daily) but always with the expectation of satisfying content. It retains unread content for me until I get to it, and if I want to refer back to something, I know I can go to the site directly and find it.
We’re always told that content is king, and erecting barriers to your content is merely limiting your reach. So I admit that I don’t see why forcing me to switch to a noisier, unstructured medium to continue to have access to your great material makes sense.
Ermmm… the newsletter is also available in RSS format, for those who prefer it đ
You will under no circumstances really know what results come of your action, but if you undertake nothing there will certainly be no final result
Why not start making video cartoons… I just watched these old walt disney cartoons here: http://tvmad.com/channel/cartoons/ and I got so sad about the fact that noone does something like that anymore.
