I read about five years ago in a book (when they were cool!) the following quote: “Knowledge is data and information subtracted.” Thought it was pretty awesome at the time and glad I noted it down. Just wish I knew who said it. For some reason, a Japanese name might be in there somewhere.

the beauty of this is the simplicity of it.
there are a lot of ignorant people at my school. most of them are in the business program.
my friends will make a claim about someone saying “but he’s really smart” then i ask (already knowing the answer) define SMART for me and they respond with something along the lines of “he gets really good grades!” i feel like this picture helps when situations like this comes in. A simple explanation of how you can retain a shitload of info but that does not make you smart. Knowledge is an evolving beauty that anyone can gain from if they have the willingness to have an open mind.

I’d like to see you extend this
bit
data
information
knowledge
understanding
wisdom
each step adds context to the former
I’d love to collaborate on this. You nailed data and information.
