the studio
That’s “DesertManhattan” there in the background, with a new, much smaller painting I’ve just started…
Far West Texas is well-suited to a studio made of canvas walls. The light is magnificent…
I don’t spend a lot of time in the studio– too busy with other projects– but when I am there, I feel both creative and serene. A hard combo to achieve, for most of us…

I can not achieve serenity and creativity at the same time. If I ever was serene in the process of doing something creative, I usually miss the moment. My thoughts moves me faster than the experience.
I understand what you mean. I can see lots of light but no direct light and how warm it must feel.
Kind of like when I was a kid and was able to be in a canvas tent during the day.
It felt warm and exciting… like something was going to happen there but you didn’t know what.
That’s what creative feels like to me.

Really superb analogy by Thom. I know exactly what you mean.
