[“DesertManahattan”. 4 x 8″. Ink, Acrylic and Pencil on Canvas etc…]
Progress on “DesertManhattan” has been slow these last few weeks– I’ve been busy with other projects, mostly the prints.
That being said, I’ve still able to occasionally sneak into the studio and work on it some more– usually late at night, when I’ve been having trouble sleeping.
It’s looking good. If I can get it done by March, I’ll be happy. Rock on.

  1. Your more serious art work brings to mind color field painting, particularly Mark Tobey, whose all over scribbling, perhaps inspired or informed by Jackson Pollock was completely radical at the time. Your position radicalizes your work which makes it very interesting. Congrats on your growing maturity in the medium and the recognition being given. I enjoy watching.

  2. Looking very good.
At the risk of sounding like a total philistine, have you ever considered producing Gaping Void wallpaper (i.e. the stuff that goes on walls, not computer desktops)?

  3. Might be time for your first large color piece… :)
Simply because you came up with a title, doesn’t mean that’s what it has to be when it’s finished. Think of this as your first, Untitled Hugh MacLeod Project, and be inspired thusly.
What?!? Thusly isn’t in the dictionary?

  4. If I may be allowed to be serious, remember, Great Art is never finished, it is only abandoned.…

  5. Andy Warhol did wallpaper. It’s all art. ‘Twould be brilliant…

Can you erase pencil easily drawn on canvas?
Hugh, do you sketch what you want on paper first or do you work straight on the canvas?
