Wonderful post and remembrance of the things that are important. As an artist, I have found Texas to be inexpensive, big, friendly and surprisingly inspirational. Moved here 18 months ago, kicking and screaming, and now I love it.

Gosh this sounds almost like a Bushism… we’re either with you or against you?
As it happens, I don’t really like your cartoons. But that’s the only time I’ve ever said so, I don’t bitch and whine about you or your art, and I appreciate that many people DO like your cartoons, and I very much admire your approach to life and your other creative output such as your writing. I’m just ambivalent about the squiggles. If you can’t handle that, then fuck off yourself.
