On May 4th I blogged about “Moleskine 42″:

“Moleskine 42″. A wee sketch I did over the weekend in my Moleskine notebook. Approx 5x7 inches.

If you like this print, we have many more over in our gallery.

It was a single drawing in a brand new Moleskine notebook. Which as you will see from the photo above, I went out and got mounted and framed.
This will look good on somebody’s wall. Yes, it is for sale. We’re talking in the $700 range.
[UPDATE:] Somebody made me an offer for the piece, and I accepted it. Rock on.

"Hugh's Daily Cartoon" Newsletter. A new cartoon sent out every weekday morning to your inbox [RSS version here.]. A wee chuckle to start your day off right etc.

  1. Great stuff. Looks great framed that way. I’d love to own a bit of original Hughess. But if I have to ask about the price… etc.

Hugh, it’s beautiful. At first glance, before I read “it’s for sale.” I said, “I want that.” to my fiancée. Who replied “ME TOO!“
It’s going to look beautiful on someone’s wall.

Very nice sketch, I was wondering what sort of ballpark price you’re thinking of? Have been keeping a close eye on life in Texas and also was (am?) still considering buying one of your bigger pictures as/when you sell them.
Also — wondered whether I could get your permission to use your twitter is down cartoon on a new blog I’m setting up for a bit of fun. Can tell you more on email/dm — if you could let me know which is best.
    Or catch me on twitter.com/chris_reed
    Thanks

Thanks for the kind words, Chaps.
Re. Price: I just added “We’re talking in the $700 range.“
Somebody has already offered me that for the piece. Rock on.

Really like the framing on this. Would love to see more framed moleskine journals like it. It’s a cool meme/social object/blah blah blah effect.
And yeah, actually, I could afford it and might get one some day when my building is done and the price has doubled ;-)

  6. caleb says:

This is awesome I love it!

  7. Mike R says:

    That is brilliant.
It might be good to actually fill a whole book, and frame it open on one page, with a certificate on the back of the frame that says the artwork is invalidated if you try and bust it out of the frame to read the other pages.
Also — Book of Kells. Have you ever thought about doing a whole sketchbook and publishing it as a limited edition signed monograph? A bit like this:

  8. Nice, Hugh. I’m glad you found a buyer. If I bought that framed piece I’d hang it on my wall and treat it like a fire extinguisher: “Break glass when in need of creative inspiration”.

  9. Shawn Lea says:

    Wow. Very cool. I like!

  10. I love the framing. That’s a great idea! Congratulations on your sale.

  11. Chris Reed says:

I guess someone acted quickly on this. Don’t think you’ll be short of buyers somehow. Nice one.
