crazy cathedral

[Drew this car­toon outside Sagrada Fami­lia when I was in Bar­ce­lona the other week. Later it occu­rred to me that Sagrada F. is not tech­ni­cally a cathe­dral, but a church. Life is suf­fe­ring etc.]

  1. As I recall, it’s offi­cially an “expia­tory tem­ple”… only one I’ve encoun­te­red. Still, being in cons­truc­tion for over a cen­tury should qua­lify it as a medie­val cathe­dral.
    It is one unbe­lie­va­ble edi­fice, any way you look at it.

  2. I remem­ber when I was there having the thought that: if something like this takes so long — then I can take my time with my dri­vel as well.
    Bar­ce­lona has always been one of my favo­rite inter­na­tio­nal cities.
