“the one”

1007please.jpg
[“Please”. New York, 1998.]
6 years and 4000-odd blog posts later, if I was allowed to keep only one blog post, it would be this one.
Which one of yours would you keep?
[N.B. The question was, which is your TOP ONE post from YOUR blog, not gapingvoid etc. Feel free to leave a link in the comments etc etc.]
[Note to Self: Like Linda Skrocki said on Twitter, this would make a good meme etc.]

That’s not an easy question. Which post or which cartoon? Probably How To Be Creative for a post (not an original answer at all).
Cartoon… Love begets love or name your terms.

  2. Leah says:

I can’t read and shouldn’t comment before coffee. Of mine I would keep “best of becoming a Jew” a round up posts of what I think are my best writings about converting to Judaism.

  3. nancy says:

You mean you get a choice? Well let’s go back to 1997 MSN 1.0 or 2.0? which was it?
Oh, damn, microsoft doesn’t have any archives. Silly Blue Monster with rapid action digestive tract.

I have two (don’t have the links to them)
    1. If we can feel truly alive just for a single moment during the short time God gave us on Earth, then everything else becomes worth it.
    2. The market for something to believe in is infinite.
Keep up the great work — I am huge fan!
    Regards.

Cartoon wise, Lying is my all time fave. I wish you’d it uploaded larger though… (hint)

Definitely one called “So You Want To Make An Album? (part 14)”. I practically felt like I was having an out-of-body experience when I wrote it:

Thanks for inviting us to plug ourselves, I’m surprised other people didn’t take it that way right off the bat! I’m very self-absorbed, though, so I got it right away. ;)

  8. Well Hugh, it is all about ME! :-) My favorite post on MY blog? ALL of them … I’m coming on two years and the first post is almost quaint and old-fashioned. I can’t even believe I have a freakin’ blog and that I created Manola, etc; Not to mention all the work and wonderful people I have met — blog turned into cornucopia. All good stuff.

  9. nancy says:

    Ohhhh, I see.
I don’t know if it was ever MY blog. See google owns the server and software where i posted. In a way it is their blog, too.
As for the stuff I do or did on .mac, I’d let Steve decide. I am too biased about my own work. I respect his taste that much.

  10. John Stavely says:

My one post would be: http://trustedtravels.blogspot.com/2006/11/are-you-kidding-me.html
It was one of my first posts and a fond memory.

  11. Seaside_Tyson says:

this is acouple years old, but still immensely relevant in my life. link

  12. Sassy says:

I have to say, I think for me it’s gotta be this one. Sometimes when you just can’t take it anymore is when the muse grabs you by the ears, you know?

  13. Mike R says:

    I haven’t written it yet.
Bloody hell, we’re all so modest aren’t we?!?

  14. Kalbintion says:

hilariously true lol; seems the one u most care about is the one who makes fun of you.

  16. Now you’ve got me thinking. I haven’t done an extensive review but I think it would be “Business is like Sex”

  17. Elizabeth says:

What a varied background your readers have.
How do you rank “the best”? Maudlin mixed with meaning? My personal favorite is an overlong summary of a year spent in Cambodia, teaching photography:

  18. My best blog post (for me that is) was the most life changing one. The stories from Tajikistan have kept me doing this shit for some time now. It’s also kept me broke — NGO work *and* a wife who wants a divorce makes an interesting venn diagram.
Nevertheless, it beats the hell out of working in a cubicle. My reason to get up every day is…

  19. Maddison says:

Mine would be, The Human Brand

  20. philos says:

I chose the one, that is coming to my mind more often than the other posts and it is not a coincidence that it was inspired by one of your posts.
the post is in greek language, and it is called “Global Neighborhoods”

  21. ASE says:

I guess I’ve not yet written it.
Of the ones I’ve, I guess it’ll be this: Life’s best lived now / Qualiti over quantity

  22. Fredd Kambo says:

    Hugh,
I got in the zone this morning and wrote this post
    http://freddkambo.blogspot.com/2007/10/on-leadership.html
And then I remembered you asking which one would be “The ONE” So…yeah this is it. For now.….and thank you.

  23. “How to be Creative” absolutely changed my life in the way a great song does. I’ve probably read a 100 times.
