[Tony Kirton of Experience Studio in Arizona just sent me the above photo. Basically, he’s got a “Hugh’s Wall” in his office. Thanks, Tony! Click on image to enlarge.]
I’m happily back in London. My brain is still on fire from all the cool stuff that was discussed in Paris. Trying to assemble my thoughts and finding it a massive task…

  1. I’m planning one of these for my apartment. But I’ve been stalling because of the prospect of a nightmare print-and-cut job. Do you know of any easier way to get prints of your work, Hugh?

Jackie, we printed these out on inkjet printer canvas and mounted them on frames. So perhaps our efforts were more detailed and time consuming than your thoughts for executing your own wall. No doubt I’m biased, but the end result of our labors is that the presentation is really quite cool.

I thought I was the only one who had a wall of knowledge set up in their office.
Here’s how I do it. I download Hugh’s drawing to my hard drive, then using AcdSee, I print the picture (size to page setting) using my color laserjet.
On my wall, I have mounted some very thin cold rolled steel I picked up at a scrap metal dealer for cheap (an old fridge door would have worked too, but hey, the cold steel fit in with the bleached pine decor better). I bought six pounds of small super magnets from a surplus store (about the size of a dime each) and use those to hold my print outs to the wall. I can add more Hughisms simply by using more magnets to hold the paper. Want me to send pictures?

  4. Heather, thanks! I’m very interested to know your approach. In fact, as of today I have enlisted the help of an interior designer to help me with this (and other things). I have lots of ideas, but the execution is where things get fuzzy…
