Is it sad that my favourite part of the Louvre is probably the lift in the main entrance hall?
Although I must admit, I do enjoy the Goya drawings out of the ‘proper’ art… Moreso than my work colleague, who waited until we’d paid and gone into the first exhibit to say he doesn’t like ‘classical art’.…

That’s what a gloomy day in Paris is for…holing yourself up in a hotel room for a few hours and rolling around in some delicious Gallic melancholia.
Try Julie Doiron’s “Tu Es Malades” and “Ce Charmant Coeur” for a soundtrack. It’ll drive you to drink – in a good way.

Peter: he probably can't log in as a US user unless he uses a proxy for his entire connexion (hotel wifi not gonna like that). Igor: he's probably at one of the rare hotels who advertise properly abroad. . . JMDesp: Simpler, just have to say he didn't feel like it on Monday, and it was closed on Tuesdays (hey!) -- then the rest of the week was too busy to go. Oh: and the Louvre is over-rated, and over-crowded (I can send you a live feed of the queue: those people won't stop standing there for anything. . .)
