I tell ya Hugh, 4 days in intesive cardiac care high on morphine cures the bubonic plague, blindness, syph, lusting after nurses, and various other dependencies including smoking and dagga!
But the invite to attend the clinic involves a painful process which includes a swift chat with God. Maybe Steve won’t let me back next time! But hey big fella, I still ain’t buying a Mac!!
I got me a new Dell!

Okay Hugh, I want you to go to your desk and pick out the biggest elastic band you can find. Place your hand through the elastic so it surrounds your wrist. Now, with your other hand, I want you to pull on the elastic as far out as you think you can handle, then let it go so it snaps on the most tender part of your inner wrist.
This is what we in the stop smoking councilling call ‘snapping back to reality’.
Snapping an elastic on your wrist will hurt. It will also cause you body to go into flight of fight mode, releasing endorphines that your body will suck up like it sucks up nicotine. You craving for nicotine will abate witout having to smoke a cigarette.
This will get you over the craving until the next one comes along.
Hey, it’s past day three, your body has by now purged itself of all nicotine, and from this point on, it’s a mental game, not a physical one.
The snap back to reality is one coping technique, we have more. Feel free to email if you need to draw some support. Six years smoke free myself.
