twitter cartoon

history76156.jpg
Of course, when I first posted this cartoon back in April, I had no idea that it would soon be applying to me, as well.
“Twitter Anonymous”, Anybody?
[Observation:] There are only five people on my Twitters friends list [i.e. less than 10%] that I haven’t met in person. Seems “in person” is getting more and more important to me, in the whole social network/media thing.
[Prediction:] Ariel Waldman is going to be to Twitter what Amanda “Rocketboom” Congdon was to video podcasting. You heard it here first [Ariel’s Twitter page is here].

Jaiku! Jaiku! Jaiku! Jaiku! Jaiku! Jaiku! (you can’t beat the commenting on Jaiku)

  2. hugh macleod says:

I’m a fan of Jaiku, Douglas, and I use it. The trouble with it, though, is that not enough of my friends use it. And friends matter more than the tools.
But it does let me send over my Twitter feeds to it…

Honestly, I just can’t imagine a ‘social’ network of people I haven’t met. I am on Twitter but until you have met me, who cares? If my name happened to be Bill Gates and then you want to be on my ‘Friends’ list, how meaningful is THAT?

  4. Matt says:

I think you’re totally right about Ariel…Twitter is made for her cute, quick, witty stuff…

  5. badger says:

Yeah, I poo pooed twitter too. now, i too have twitteritis

  6. I am totally addicted now. I got my friends on it and it makes the day go by much more pleasantly. 90% of my meatspace friends are people I met in cyberspace.

  7. Became your friend on Twitter because I thought you should have at least one more person you hadn’t met.
Also decided to start using Twitter (I joined a couple of months ago) because of your recent posts. And the really super cool Twitter widget — which I added to my blog and myspace.
Oooh. Maybe I will join your reader community.
    (I am so easy.)

  8. Heather (a.k.a. Momo) says:

I am so behind the times. I still have this thing about actually meeting people rather than just conversing. Blogs, message boards & so on can be fun but they will never replace real life for me. I like talking too much.
And I really don’t care what my “BFF” is eating for dinner… unless I’m there & want the recipe. Then, I’ll just ask for it.
    So boring, I am.

  9. Astrid says:

I am more curious about your experience at Tony Robbins. Will it be worth writing about, will what you got out of it carry on long term for you or will it light your fire for only a day or two before subsiding.

  10. Meeting in person is over-rated.
    Another great cartoon, Hugh!
