history of my blog

[UPDATE– Speaking of Twitter:] My take on the recent Edelman shitstorm? Steve apologised, and John accepted the apology. Errare humanem est. Move along folks, there’s nothing more to see.
On a personal note, two thoughts:
1. Poor ol’ Steve. We all say and do things we regret, however innocently, and the shitstorm builds into some huge monster beyond one’s control. Anybody with a high-profile blog and a salaried day job will feel Steve’s pain, because THEY KNOW it might be them next time.
2. As far as this particular shitstorm goes, I suspect it a lot of it is generated not by some allegedly heinous moral breach on Steve’s part, but by a genuine [and mostly undisclosed] desire by other people to see him and his colleagues fail. I’ve been blogging long enough to be able to spot the vultures circling overhead.
[Bonus Link:] Edelman Europe’s CEO David Brain tried out Twitter. Decided it wasn’t for him.
[Disclosure: I have a relationship with Edelman, and consider them good friends of mine.]

Hugh — This is solid work, per usual. You’ll appreciate a cartoon I created about the Twitter craze awhile back:
    http://tinyurl.com/ynp7lb
Since then I’ve also started using it.

    The curse of Twitter.

  6. Anand D says:

The Cartoon … BANG ON TARGET. I donno who is handling the PR & Marketing for Twitter, but they seem to be doing a pretty good job in making the right noise.

  7. I am with Johnnie. this is a stone cold total classic. i am printing it out for my gapingboard now.

  8. Unfortunately, any mistake — no matter how big or small — Rubel or Edelman makes, BC/AC at strumpette will jump on it. Wonder if Louderback’s letter was his idea, or if the fine folks at strumpette suggested it?

  9. Ike says:

Hugh — I totally agree that everyone needs to move on. This was a playground foul, and nothing more.
What I *do* see happening is a crap-slinging contest in the comments section, where the extremes are waging jihad over openness in communications.
Is it the “Right-thinking transparency evangelists” versus the Luddites? Or is it the “sensible businessmen with fiduciary responsibility” versus the loony Commie hipsters?
Well, it’s both. And it’s a shame that Rubel and Louderback are being dragged into this ongoing conflict. I only wish this had happened in March, so for April Fools Day I could have bought a LouderRubel t-shirt from Josh Hallett.

  10. Love ya Hugh, but you’re wrong on this.

  11. I don’t really get twitter. However, I think it would make a great porn parody … I’m inspired.

  12. Tony C says:
