I’m glad your students like you, Steve. I’m sure they have good reason.
OK, just to shut you up I’ll tell you why I like Feldman.
It’s not his videoblog per se. It’s what he actually does for a living i.e. to pay the bills.
He has developed a very nice business model which I think has a good chance of not only working for himself, but also helping the businesses of lots of his clients i.e. “Mom and Pop” businesses.… i.e. Dry Cleaners, Pizza joints, Carpet Stores, that kinda thing.
We all see lots of VC-funded, Silicon Valley types do great things with Web 2.0 to transform their careers.
But to me, seeing normal, blue collar people do the same on a local level is far more exciting an idea.
So Godspeed to Feldman, I say.

I teach. My students seem to like me and I enjoy it. So if you're looking to change the subject by suggesting that I'm some low-life cretin or "not smart enough," I'm not sure I can help you there. I would not and did not diss anyone's work without provocation. But you call someone's work "important" and suggest, in your smug way, that anyone who disagrees just doesn't get it, then you're damn right I'm going to call you on it and tell you what I think. Blogs as conversations and all that stuff. I don't imagine you'd expect people to run out an buy Stormhoek just because you say so. Questions like "Is it any good," and "Why" are legitimate, right? All I'm asking is this: what is it about Feldman that you think is important? You still haven't answered the question. If you so admire Kathy Sierra's dictum to not take your audience for granted, don't. Don't hype something without backing it up. And if it's a legitmate question, it's a legitimate question whether or not you think I'm a prick. I really do want to know your answer. Provide it and I promise I'll leave you and your blog alone (actually, I'm not into blackmail. I'll leave you alone regardless).

Steve, the fact that you’re not smart enough, or at least, too lazy to figure out why I like Feldman is not my problem.
Secondly, before you start dissing the work of others, why don’t you tell the class what it is that you do that is so wonderful and fascinating? Inquiring minds want to know etc.

OK. You knew I’d be back You can take issue with my manners. But that begs the question with even greater urgency: what’s there to recommend about this Feldman character. You care about manners? His videos are mostly loutish rants about how things suck and are shit. He disses LinkedIn while putting their badge on his site. Ranting for the sake of ranting, it seems. And this Yue person? She’s worse. Insulting women all the time. I choose to ignore them, but it’s hard when people you otherwise enjoy keep pushing these folks. Trust me, I’m giving PodTech just as much grief. So, then, if I ask nicely, will you please tell me one original thought, provocative idea or pioneering thing Feldman has had/done? Please!?

Steve 2.0, sure, I agree, Steve 1.0 has a point, or at least, he is well entitled to his own opinion.
That doesn’t mean I like the way he phrased his question.
The fact that his momma didn’t teach him proper manners is not my problem.
