[Cartoon from the mid-1990’s, from my “pre-bizcard” days. It was later published as a greeting card by Nobleworks.]
Here’s an update on the Geek Day Out this Sunday.
Basically, the plan hasn’t changed. We’re all meeting at The Texas Embassy for lunch at noon on Sunday, the 21st. After that we hit the museum, then a pub after that.
If you’re coming, please send me an e-mail if you haven’t already. Thanks.
[PS: My cellphone number is 0770 309 9462 is anyone has a problem on the day.]

Might work better for some of us out-of-towners if it were on a saturday instead of a sunday. Just a thought. Follow the lunch up w/ a sat night pub crawl, and you might have a real winner once in a while …

Agreed, I’m not sure if Sunday was the best day to choose. No matter. Something to consider for next time etc.

I see the Texas Embassy don’t have Stormhoek on their wine list — you may need to have words, as a marketer maybe you could even go as far as taking in a complimentary bottle for the manager to try — I don’t know if that kind of thing works, I’m not a marketing person myself.

Oh, I wish I was going to be there. When I lived in London, Texas Embassy was when I went if I was desperately homesick and wanted free refills. Seriously, the only reason for going was refills. And the food. And the margaritas.
Enjoy your Geek Day Out! I’ll be busy drinking free refills in Chicago.

  5. …seems a lot like college life too.

  6. Hugh, I read the cartoon so fast that I thought the last pane read: “Fortunately, I snapped out of it after 5 or 6 beers.“
Anyhow, have a blast at the museum. It’s a great idea to do these collective ‘artists’ dates’ (in Julia Cameron’s words.) I should be hobnobbing and watching films at Sundance Film Fest about the same time. Ciao!
