empty thresher’s
![]()
An empty wine rack at Thresher’s [in Ladbroke Grove, London, to be exact], taken only a few minutes ago. Apparently a couple of stores in the West side of town have pretty much run out of stock.
The virus has spread.

A wee chuckle to start your day off right etc.

I used my coupon this afternoon at a Thresher in Wokingham. The third person today, the store guy said, following “tons of people” yesterday and Thursday. He also said they have loads of stock to meet the demand.
Good to hear that from the trenches.
Naturally some Stormhoek was part of my purchase
I like how everyone thinks this is such a big deal for the buying public, when it’s really just an extra 7% off when compared to their current “three for the price of two” offer.
So for an extra 7% off over a ten day period, they’ve massively increased the number of visitors to their stores for at least a few days, probably bumped up their profits, appeared on national TV news, raised their brand awareness, grabbed a bigger share of the holiday booze buying spree, and maybe they will shift enough boxes of stuff to increase their bulk discount negotiations with their suppliers. I’m sure there are plenty of other benefits.
From a marketing pov, that’s not bad at all, really.
Hugh,
I am not a wine drinker but you sure are making me want to try some!

6 degrees of separation anyone?
Lovely!!!!
Hugh,
This is fantastic — my local Threshers was sold out this weekend also. Important to never under-estimate the power of the blogosphere or man’s fundamental need to drink wine
Note that the image shows a Lay and Wheeler “Fine Wines” stand.
At my local Bottoms Up — the L&W stand has been in this state for around 6 months, it just hasnt been restocked at all in that time — with a few bottles reamining unsold.
Ciao!
Check this out!
