ink on paper

08112006064.jpg
A stack of new “cartoons drawn on the back of business cards”, all made in the last week or two.
As helpful and convenient as drawing on my Tablet PC is, there’s a certain je ne sais quoi you only get with ink on paper. So my favorite media is asserting itself again. Good news.
I’ll post some of these up on gapingvoid, once I’ve bought a new scanner.

I would be interested in seeing designs that might apply to our business — not sure if you do this sort of thing or not…

So… are those drawn on biz cards you’ve been given or do you buy blank biz cards to draw on? Or do they have your contact info on the other side?
    Just curious.

Personally, I think the je ne sais quoi is quite apparent in the output. Looking forward to the new batch.

I receive my business cards from you today with one of your drawing … it is top class … wonderful. the back is pink with my professional name in white, and two little sentences about my job + website & email addresses, then on the recto, your drawing with a guy saying “Was it good for you” and the girl answers “Read my blog“
    i love it.
excellent production. excellent artist. quick + easy transaction. run for them !

i agree… when i write, my wife says my most emotive work is with pen on paper… same with my drawings… pen and paper… maybe there are less synapses to transfer the thoughts and images… but i don’t know… it just works…

There is something divine and authentic as the hand and pen work together.
I love my computer for blasting out words, blogging, and email (couldn’t live without it), but sometimes the spiral notebook/hand scribbling combination produces better-quality, more-insightful stuff… even though there’s less of it.
I’ve keep every notebook I’ve ever written/drawn in since I was a teen. Some of those old ideas still ring true!
