mice parade

I’ve just been blown away by a track I lis­te­ned to on BBC Radio 3’s “Late Junc­tion” show [The song appears about 6 minu­tes into it].
The track is called “Steady As She Goes”, and it’s on this album, by a band called Mice Parade.
Wow. I am so buying the CD.
[Update:] On the same radio show, I was also blown away by a track on Suf­jan Steven’s “Illi­nois” album, which I’ve never heard before. Mind-blowingly talen­ted, methinks [The song appears about 36 minu­tes into the show].
If you click on the “Late Junc­tion” link, I believe the radio show will remain online until 10.30pm Lon­don time tonight. Worth a listen.

    Late Junc­tion is one of the BBCs hid­den gems.
    The online copy should be avai­la­ble for seven days.
    You should also try “Mixing It” on the same site.

    Suf­jan Steven’s “Illi­nois” is a fan­tas­tic album — one of the best I’ve heard in ages. Go get it as soon as pos­si­ble, and you won’t regret it.

    Suf­jan is so phe­no­mi­nal, i named my cat after him. It’s arme­nian for ‘comes with a sword’ so i found it appro­priate for a claw-bearing fur monster.

    Lis­te­ning to the Late Junc­tion show now to hear that Mice Parade song. Just a note, Hugh: that Suf­jan Ste­vens track you heard isn’t actually on Illi­nois. It’s pro­bably on his sub­se­quent album The Ava­lance, which com­pri­ses out­ta­kes and extras from Illi­nois. (I didn’t catch the name of the track and the brow­ser pla­yer won’t let me rewind, but I know it’s not on Illi­nois.)
    But any­way, Illi­nois is still ama­zing and Ste­vens is still fan­tas­ti­cally talen­ted. (Did you know he plays most of the ins­tru­ments on his tracks himself?)

    You’ll also want to pick up Mokoondi by Mice Parade and get lost in tracks 1,2,3 very good.

    Make sure you check out The Ava­lanche, as well. It’s sort of an exten­sion of Illi­noise. Also, if you like Suf­jan, here’s a girl that’s pla­ying gui­tar for him on his next tour. She’s ama­zing.
