Have you seen the new Microsoft Vista? I have been a regular visitor at your site but I have to disagree with you about Gates leaving. The guy is over 50 and wants to concentrate on charity. He still owns the largest percent of shares in Microsoft and will still be the Chairman of the company. He is just stepping down from his chief software architect job. You have to realize that his gift to the World was his invention of Windows. From there on, he was investor who respeceted new ideas and that’s what Microsoft has become. So I still think the company has more than few years and is still going to rake in lot more Dollars then we can imagine.

I’m sure MS will make plenty of money for years to come, Tarun. But is a job with MS right out of college worth the same as it was 20 years ago? You tell me.

Sure, believe it or not, they still hire only the creme of the school. There hiring process is still very competitive and they pay far more then your average software companies. Sure you work long hours but thats what you get, when you work for one of the World’s largest software giant. I can say this as I am of the same field and a senior at a college. The job at MS has become more challenging as now you are writing on top of millions of loc(lines of code) already written so you not only need how to write code but also how to integrate it with the system developed before you. I personally would not want to join MS as I intend to have a life outside of work and would rather join a software outsourcing company but that’s just my personal opinion.
