A possible variant comes to mind: “And now her ass is getting owned by someone else.”

am I being petty and literal if I’m pissed off by this?

Ooh, you’re getting very real on this one. I don’t think you’ll find many married women who would be pleased by your observation (or many married men who would disagree with your observation).

I have to say that as a self-conscious, scared, slightly paranoid 14-year-old who lacks confidence and partially loathes herself, well I have to say that I am shocked and saddened by this. I am currently in my first real relationship, and the thought that a man would marry someone he didn’t love makes me want to cry. Leading someone on is double the cruelty that ending the relationship would be… Maybe this is just the teenage girl talking to you right now, and I don’t think your cartoon is aimed at people like me, because I am unable to see the humor in this, but I don’t like this thing at all, no matter its amount of truth.

    A few comments (Obviously)
    1. Claiming to love someone when you don’t & then proceeding to build a life with them while resenting them for your choice… that is one of the cruelest & most manipulative things one can do. It not only scars the spouse’s life & heart, it can absolutely ruin the children that inevitably will follow.
    2. And yet men with ideas such as this wonder why their marriages “fail” or why their wives would seek love elsewhere.
    3. With this one & “This Ring”, I’m beginning to think you & my husband truly were cut from the same sad cloth.

I’m not sure if the behavior you speak of is just the domain of males, Momo.

  7. momo says:

It’s not, sir. I’m sure it can be just as painful for either sex .
