Aldo Coffee in Pennsylvania is a fine example of a global microbrand:
Aldo Coffee Co. is a new, Italian-style coffee bar and cafe located just south of Pittsburgh in the beautiful, vibrant community of Mount Lebanon, PA.
Aldo Coffee Co. serves up the South Hills’ richest espresso and fine coffees and teas, all from the award-winning Intelligentsia Coffee Roasters. We feature espresso made with Intelligentsia’s renowned Black Cat Blend ™.
I’d be interested in finding out if and how their blog is helping their business. Seriously.
Secondly, if any of y’all know of any good GMB’s, your own or somebody else’s, please feel free to share by leaving a comment below. Or even better, add it to the GMB list I just set up on the wiki. Rock on.

I had two attractive birds invite me to coffee last week. As a consequence of this cartoon, my mind is now very active. (And that, my dear Hugh, was the 1,000th coComment written by any one person. Thank you for introducing it to me.)
holy hell… wasn’t ever figuring on being highlighted on GV.
I’d love to talk to you about in detail at some point but am flailing over taxes all day. Short answer is yes, it’s helping — interesting play we get with coffee-knowledgeable visitors passing thru Pgh — we’re sort of a destination. Has it helped locally yet? Hard to tell — seems print still means more here than local search. But the blogging community all knows us and spreads goodness.
Btw, long as I’m here… we’re on the Stormhoek 100 dinners list wiki for May 24th… we’re going to try to teach all the businesses on our block how to blog. When do we find out if we really get the wine… and how much do we get?
Anytime I’m in Pittsburgh I’ll be going to Aldos. I went there last time and they make great hot chocolate! Plus, they are as nice in person as their blog makes them sound.

I’ll be joining Rich on May 24th, to help spread the word about bloggings role for business, etc…
On a similar note, George Saunders, the author has a new book coming out, In Persuasion Nation, and has sent out free promotional packets to readers who have joined his army. As it turns out, some of those readers are bloggers and have subsequently posted about it (at least here and here) at no request of the author or the publisher.
The Lord bless you and keep you…
Uh, the above comment was actually mean’t for your above Easter post…
I have, as you can plainly see, not risen from the dead yet.
On the GMB wiki: when does one qualify for the lucrative GMB title? Is the list for established GMBs or GMB wishfuls? (for *that* list I’ve got a few..
Hugh… wanted to get back to you with an answer and I remembered that I actually answered this same question on my tradeshow blog in this post from November: http://tsmi.blogs.com/tsmiblog/2005/11/reaching_influe.html
Although the post is six months ago, the answer still applies, just that now the snowball is bigger and with more velocity.
Hope that offers the feedback you were looking for. We’ll be featured in a blog article in the Pittsburgh Tribune tomorrow as well. Whether it’s an article on blogging or coffee, a mention is a mention…
Thought I’d also mention that as an experiment yesterday we highlighted a new dessert on the blog — just a single post with photos.
http://www.aldocoffee.com/2006/04/introducing_the.html
It sold out in hours, when usually our desserts make it well into Saturday night.
So I guess I was wrong… locals are reading the f’n thing too.
