I've been doing the badger brush, old school double safety razor thing for the past year. I'm never going back.
Not only do I get a splendid shave, I tend to nick myself far, far, less than when I used the Mach3 style blades. You see, they call them *adjustable* safety razors for a reason.

The problem with a razor like this is that I would, in all probability, cut myself so bad that I would bleed to death before I could make it out of the bathroom.
I bid on a 40's Gilette anyway, but I didn't win.

My solution is to give up shaving altogether. Who needs the hassle.

I've been shaving with an old-style double blade razor for a couple of years or so, ever since I got my first barber shave. I really enjoy the process much more than I used to and get a better shave than I used to.

Not in Cumbria. I know a good barber in London (Jermyn Street), though.

Cool.
I have a badger-hair brush and whatnot but could never quite break the disposable-cartridge habit (Mach 3 and counting).
However, I must say the best shaves I've ever had were performed by traditional barbers. Now THAT is a ritual, and one I really wish had survived as a part of normal guy-life in the US and Western Europe.
Can you get a real shave in Cumbria?
