stormhoek cartoon

Looks like Stormhoek’s marketing is starting to work. Heh.
[Note to self: Is Guy Kawasaki a wine drinker? Is he planning on throwing any Web 2.0 parties?]
The one thing I’m REALLY glad that me and the Stormhoek folk did is, when we started the first European wine promo back in the summer, we made it available to ALL bloggers, regardless of “influence” and/or traffic.
It made it a lot more interesting and fun than the usual “Let’s give out some freebies to some A-Listers and start some buzz” routine.
Meanwhile, the Stormhoek 100 geek dinners thing is up to 39 parties. We want to get the number up to 100. If you have a interesting “Web 2.0″ event coming up, large or small, Stormheok would perhaps like to sponsor it. Thanks.

    Hugh,
I don’t drink wine. Actually, I wouldn’t consume anything a blogger would give me. :-)

You don’t drink wine? You are so missing out ;-)
I used to be a bourbon man, back in my advertising days. So glad I’m not, now…

  3. I drink wine.
AND I have NO traffic OR influence what-so-ever! :)

English Cut gets a flag as well with Brad Fitzpatrick’s sketch of ‘Anatomy of an Evangelist’… nice work Hugh.

  5. Being a webcomic artist, I’ll drink anything!
I also almost have a caption for that ‘toon, but it’s on the tip of my tongue. I might have to wait for my free bottle of wine to loosen it up… ;p
On a more serious note, I love this give & take between more well known bloggers. I’ve seen the same thing among my favorite web-toonists, and have experienced a pang of jealousy. This, even though I basically have the same thing going on in my own community of cartoonists and LiveJournalers. Even when it’s in a kind of adversarial tone, if civil it sets an example for others to strive for, as well as propagating the links.

  6. Seeing as we’re talking wine — DON’T get a bottle of Kumala Chardonnay Semillon 2005 unless you have a very strong person at home. The ‘cork’ is one of those composite plastic things. Getting a waiter’s friend in and then drawing the cork represents serious exercise and absolutely ruins the experience of what is otherwise a decent white.
    Hugh — can’t get Stormhoek in Spain…

Have you considered having Stormhoek sponsor one of the parties at this year’s BlogHer Conference (http://www.blogher.org)
That would be a great way to cover a lot of U.S. bloggers of varying influence all at once.
