hi hugh,
you didnt make a cartoon about this??? it would be so funny.
i guess gia did not get my whole point to her discussion, she can only hear the stuff inbetween that she doesnt like:
my main point to her was:
"I believe feminism should be about supporting women in all choices be it modeling, running a small business, a mother or a high power career woman." as another woman said on another blog.
my point over and over to gia was that it's ok if she didnt think that i was the right speaker, but why did she have to tear me down, use the word whore, and why could she not have been more constructive in her criticism? she could have said (as my yogi's say) "this is great...and this is great too" or "this is a good start, and where we need to go is here". i belive in supporting people wherever they are in their technical abilities.
second, i was using the stylist comment to show how women compete with oneanother in the work place.
third, i didnt want to have that powerpoint slideshow presentation. i wanted to talk about women and competition, i wanted to point out that there are a lot of women ceo in my industry, who use technology (drawings for their designs, innnovative new fabrics), and in my industry it's the only industry where women are paid more than men and we are asked to have a lot of responsablity at a very young age.
so those were my mantras, not to mention, did you see my flash lite app for the 360fashion i made? i presented it at 3gsm for adobe.
i think mobility and fashion have a lot to do together. this fashion week i am shooting the 360fashion reality tv show...it's so great. you will love it!

Perfect! Then we can get all those really hunky, but essentially vacant male bloggers up there as well... so the women in the audience can get all weak-kneed and giggley while the guys talk about how they are so incredibly excited that they are using their blog and their mobile to actually *communicate* with people...
I, for one, can't wait. :/

It's not a 'spat'- it's a 'me saying one thing and Anina thinking I've said something COMPLETELY different and then not quite understanding my explanation and then going on and on and not really saying anything and losing the thread and still not making a point and talking about how 'you can't wear your tv' and me, patiently (for me), trying *again* to explain and she still doesn't understand and still doesn't make a point and...' and then she links directly to an image on my server and then thinks her site's been hacked because I changed it to an image that says 'Anina is stealing bandwidth'... and she didn't understand what that means... AND....
All I've been saying is that if we have to suffer ANOTHER 'Women in Technology' discussion at ANY geek event, can we PLEASE have women up there who are doing really cool things that the whole community can get into or who, at the very least, understand what 'stealing bandwidth' means... and who don't do it?!
Yes, MM, it *is* a remarkably male world, so do we *really* have to make all the seriously fucking intelligent women out there who are doing really cool things sit in the audience and instead give over the stage to a pretty, nice, but seemingly dim woman who talks about how she really needs a stylist to help her match the room when she's talking at a 'geek event'?
*That* really does offend me...
