the because effect

Seems a new conversation is starting about Venture Capital between two of the smartest people I know, Doc Searls and Rick Segal. Click on their respective links to find out more. Interesting stuff.
[Bonus Link:] Web 2.0 is dead, it’s official. Not that it was ever that alive to begin with [Thanks to Fred for the link].

The best way to support gapingvoid is to sign up to "Hugh's Daily Frickin' Cartoon" Newsletter. A new cartoon sent out every weekday morning to your inbox [RSS version here.]. A wee chuckle to start your day off right etc.

    Hugh!
Thanks for highlighting this. This is going to be interesting. We hold a bunch of patents that merely act as targets for folks to get around. The time and effort of creating and maintaining IP is huge and the negative energy expended in their defence is huge. Luckily, or not, we are bootstrappers and can respond on our own quickly. Have we benefitted our potential customers or ourselves? NO WAY. We would love a better way to create a small window of advantage as first movers and to crank this up in collaborative engagement with real smart folks. Sure we may not become the next space tourists but we would have a bunch of fun and perhaps we may just drive benefit to users.
Next time you are in the Cape lets have a glass or two! Better still what about a Geek Dinner?

Hugh – thanks for the link about W2.0… I was getting worried that in 15 years we’d be calling it “Web Panther” or “Web Longhorn”. *shudders*
