copyright rant
Great Copyright rant from The Head Lemur:
Protecting stuff comes from fear. Believing that someone is out to take it, raises the question of what led you to the conclusion that whatever it is has such a potential for destroying your way of life? And since you have reached this conclusion, where did the idea come from to put it on the web?

I’m not sure i agree with him entirely — he’s effectively saying that if you exhibit something then it’s ok for someone to steal it.
Now i know he’s talking about the net and I agree with him in that respect — so long as you’re posting your own material (can you tell that I’ve worked in the entertainemnt industries lol?) but I don’t think his logic is impeccable.
I think his logic is off with the fairies — if I put a lot of work into something that I use to make money why should it be ok for someone else to come along and take my work to make money for themselves?
I don’t see his logic at all — but then I’m pretty much a luddite.
Way too many people are way too worried that others might steal whatever they think they have created. Little is worth stealing in the first place.
Protecting stuff comes from fear.
In other news, the doodles that adorn these blog posts are © Hugh Macleod.
Well, I think that putting a © and equiping the doodles with umpteens sorts of DRMs and DMCAs and Rootkits are kinda different. Not sure if he is refering to that though.
