Does thjat mean that we shall interpret *wirearchy* as being somewhere in between, such as in Limbo or Purgatory ?
Feels like it sometimes, deoesn’t it .. as the accumulated effects of link-generated transparency wreak something-or-other on the established order of things.
i appreciate that Hugh situated it in *the next century* or so, as the socialization and acculturation we all carry makes substantive adaptation give real meaning to the term *learning journey*. Hugh’s personal journey traces out a compelling story if you have read his blog over the past couple of years, as he awakened in the maw of an industry yet to transform. Wow, did he awaken, or what !
And I think we are all somewhere on that continuum .. either frightened by all the unusual change, or excited but kinda awkward in front of all the shiny new possibilities and dark lurking uncertainties.

regarding wirearchy:
in one of my classes in college, we were discussin cs lewis and tolkien and (being a catholic university) we were talking about the hierarchy of heaven and the ‘lowerarchy’ of hell.
credit to peter kreeft for teaching me this. an interesting philosophy professor.
