bloody hell

A blog about the the utter disaster that is Louisiana. Words utterly fail me. [Thanks to Parmet for the link.]
[IMPORTANT UPDATE:] The help the blog linked above, I’ve built a wiki page to help the people of Slidell, Louisiana get information to each other. Hope it helps.
[MEANWHILE:] Why is it that every time I read anything even remotely related to the book publishing business, I just roll my eyeballs?

I roll my eyeballs, too. Mostly because the publishing industry has become filled with navel gazing editors and agents and writers trying to please each other for the five cents profit they will make.
As best as I can tell, the lot of them don’t know what they are doing. Their marketing plans rely on “if we build it they will come.” Writers care more about the opinions of reviewers (good reviews sell books!!) and agents than the people they are supposed to be writing for.
And the publishers publish what they think will work. Based on what I don’t know. But for the likes of my community I get about one good book every 3 – 5 years.
So, taking the Hughtrain to heart, next year will be the debut of my micropublishing company. Screw traditional publishing, I say.
Thanks, as always, for your great thoughts and humor.

I’ve created a wiki and I’m working on organizing photographs, names, and eye-witness accounts, by neighborhood, in Orleans Parish. It is very hard to find information since it is scattered and not at all categorized. I’m hoping that people will be able to answer questions for themselves, by scanning photographs.
If anyone want’s to help, with formatting, or classification. Please let me know.

  4. Book Publishing and Management — Still working out the kinks

Hugh at gapingvoid made mention of the publishing industry here with a link to some, well, as he put it, eye rolling. Then Seth reminds people not to buy his book making good on his promise of a free e-book download. Seths been doing the
