new york geek dinner

zzzzazzdggg01.jpg
Adriana’s having a New York Geek Dinner on September 15th.
I won’t make it there, but Stormhoek will gladly supply some freebie wine for the event, if that’s OK with everybody.
Speaking of freebies, the Irish Blogger’s Wine Freebie offer is still open, if any Irish bloggers fancy a bottle.
I love this marketing model. Talk to bloggers. Make it easy for them to try the wine. If they like it, the idea-virus is unleashed. And if they hate it, that’s good too.
Why? Because nobody kills a bad idea faster than a blogger. So if Stormhoek dies, it’ll die quickly. And the Stormhoek folk can move on to other things, as opposed to spending the next five years blindly trying to market a dumb product that nobody really wants.

    Hugh,
If you’re going to ship some wine to the States, don’t forget us wine bloggers over here. I’d love to take Stormhoek for a spin and talk about it on my podcast.
    Cheers!

Thanks, Tim. Yeah, we’re working on a “US tour” at the moment.
The only catch is; because liquor laws vary from State to State, I doubt we’ll be able to blanket the whole US at once.
Instead we’ll probably focus on different markets, one at a time: New York City, California, Seattle etc etc.

Well, it worked for me! I’m no wine expert, but I’m not inexperienced in what’s good and what’s not either.
Having really enjoyed the free bottle (really enjoyed … different and tasty!) I’ve ordered a case from http://www.sawinesonline.co.uk. 6 of the one Stormhoek sent me, and they’ve 4 others — 2 red, 1 other white, and a rose — I got a mix of all to try them out.
If they’re all as good a quality, count me a loyal customer (price is very reasonable). I love this model too … it only works if the company is actually GREAT, which means only GREAT companies will survive / thrive.

  4. Mark Quigley says:

What about Canada? We are in the Commonwealth. I was counted on that to twist your loyalties in our favour…

  5. Adriana says:

    …“if it’s ok with everybody”.
Hm, that’s a tough one! Thanks, will be in touch about that magnanimous offer.. :-)

So is the UK offer closed then? Damn. Should’ve moved sooner. Ah well, maybe I’ll be inspired to actually buy a bottle then…
