hugh needs a date

There’s a London Geek Dinner for Girls on the 16th August. Visit the wiki and sign up.
Sounds like a fun evening. Guys are allowed to attend, but only if one of the girls invites them first.

"Hugh's Daily Cartoon" Newsletter.
A new cartoon sent out every weekday morning to your inbox [RSS version here.].
A wee chuckle to start your day off right etc.

Hi, I just loved your “How to Be Creative” book. It was also a bit scary, that watercooler gang, and waiters who had emptyness in their words. *shiver*
Finally, after all that marketing-by-blogging business-idea smokescreen crap, the *real* hughagenda is revealed. Good luck!
oh for God’s sake
I believe you have a date for the Girly Geek party…
I like the cartoon for it!!! Very funky!
Maybe you should bring your notebook and pen with you and do one for each of the girls you meet at the party… It could be sooo funny!
You’ll have loads of fun. I promise!

Why? Why do women need to be segregated?
I agree, Suw. It sounds dreadful…
But then when I was 20 I used to go out to a women-only lesbian club night called Venus Rising. I never had a problem with that (and was always amused to see the pre-op trannies there) mainly because I’ve always preferred gay bars and clubs (men’s and women’s) to straight ones. I loathe being hit on all night by drunken idiot men… I can avoid that completely in gay clubs and only very, very rarely have had to politely fend of a girl in lesbian clubs.
Geek events, in my experience, are not at all about trying to get a shag by the end of the night, so I’ve never, ever felt like ‘prey’ in the way that I do in other social gatherings.
Geek events are for ‘geeks’ to get together and talk.…it doesn’t matter *what* they’ve got between their legs or with whom they want to use it with…
Still, if you want a date, Hugh, I’ll see if I’m in town that night…
I can totally get you a date for the geek event.…let me know.
It’s not that women need to be segregated, it’s just that we need a little more exposure. To work together to get that exposure is great. That is what this event is about. It is not about just getting a load of girls together and to find a date at the end of the night. That is what nightclubs and bars are for.
This is supposed to be a fun event where the girls get to meet and just have a girly night chatting about tech stuff and whatever takes their fancy. It is not women against the world or anything radical.
Come down and join us if you don’t believe me. Go on. You’ll have a good time.
Gee Suw, after giving this some thought the only reason I could think of was:
“Because sexual apartheid is fun.“
But I’m not sure if that one is allowed. Please advise.
