The "pressure" to be more creative comes from the fact that everyone is witnessing how there are more avenues for creative work to be seen, heard, created, distributed and appreciated than at any other time in history.
Everyone has the voice - and no one has anything interesting to say.

Is this...irony?...backhanded truth?...or a bald declaration of inner strangeness?
Shirley, you're not serious?
Me, I want to be as creative as that creative part of me knows that it should be. That's a statement as annoyingly imprecise as those of yours.
This, too, will pass away.

so you have traded your soul just to hang out with movers and shakers? If they were the true movers and shakers, you would still have a soul and give a big F U to the wannabes.
Life is about living with passion and your own inviduality instead of fading into what other people are like...

We've made a site for people who want to try getting creative again, at least partly inspired by your 'Taking back your crayons' stuff. There's a Wiki with all the main articles in it (so anyone can join in) and a Blog to keep up with the latest on the site and news elsewhere.
There doesn't seem to be anyone much else out there trying to answer the questions of *which* crayons to take, and what to actually *do* with them.

Everyone wants to be more creative than they already are because everyone has it drilled into their head at an early age that to be creative, ie, artsy, is to miss out on the opportunities to be successful, ie, wear a suit and work in a big building.
Then one day we wake up and wonder what happened to that part of us that used to love to sing, paint, dance, etc.
Sad, isn't it?
